ICE 2009: A Report

As a foreign student in NTUST [Taipei, Taiwan], I am joined in NTUST Indonesian Student Association [NTUST-ISA]. One of its annual program to introduce Indonesia is so-called Indonesian Culture Exhibition [ICE]. This event held in form of Indonesian traditional features exhibition and art performance.

This year’s event held in two days [March 12 and 13], comprising of 1-and-a-half-day exhibition and a few hours art perfomance in the afternoon of the second day. Around 3 months preparation was done to ensure the event went well and as expected by several parties [or people by the way]. 

The Mosaic of Indonesia has been chosen as the big theme for ICE 2009. The name itself represents the diversity of Indonesia, apparent differences in culture, language, and  so on, but also bold the ability of Indonesia, despite of its large area and numerous tribes, to unite. Unity in diversity.

An exhibition is an effective way to attract people to know something closer and deeper. Though seems to be similar with the common exhibition, ICE 2009 offered different point of view by displaying some mini-Indonesian famous sites. 

Several 3-feet diameter Buddhist stupas of Borobudur Temple were made to give more impression on experiencing the real Indonesia. Volcano, Joglo house, and a lake also created to attract more visitors. Indonesian traditional goods were displayed, some of them are angklung, wayang, Indonesian traditional costumes, and traditional weapons. 

Interactive searching engines also provided to explore more about Indonesia. What’s missing here? Indonesian culinary of course. There were some periods of snack serving during those two-days event. Visitors can taste wedang jahe [ginger drink], kolak ubi [I do not know how to translate it, but if you wonder, I can describe it ], tempe [made from soybean], and lots else. Free dinner also served in the art performance night. I miss Indonesian food so much!

Since Indonesia is a library of cultures, art performance is a very interesting. So many dances can be performed, each has its own meaning. ICE 2009 showed Yapong Dance, Tempurung Dance [tempurung is dried coconut shell], Gaba-gaba Dance [so energetic!], Kayau Dance [a traditional dance from Kalimantan, and honestly I saw it for the first time in this very event], Indonesian famous folk song, Bengawan Solo, also sung by IOCA [Indonesian Overseas Chinese Association, great thanks to them!!]. 

What a night. Oh I forgot to mention, the sacred Javanese wedding ceremonial also conducted at that night! Who was the lucky couple?? I write a report, not a gossip column .

I myself sang a song [who will believe that I can sing?? Hahahaha], in a duo. Hope that my song was good enough. See how beautiful I am in red [though I prefer purple of course ]??

Finally, I am really proud to be a part of Indonesia, and so grateful of being a part of this marvelous ICE 2009. Great, not just good, work from all the committe and NTUST-ISA members.

Minggu Sore

Lama juga tidak menulis ya. Sibuk [abis]. Setelah ICE berlalu, pekerjaan menumpuk nggak karuan T_T. Stress gara2 matakuliah ’satu’ itu [hehehehe].

 

So kemarin adalah hari Minggu. Seperti biasa, ke gereja. Pulangnya, makan siang di kantin NTU. H [sebut saja begitu]:’cuit, ke GG yuk — gongguan. cuit: ngapain?. H : beli sepatu sendal. Dalam hati cuit berkata: ampun deh panas2 gini ke GG, mana ngantuk lagi. trus cuit bilang: ntar sore aja, aku tak turu sik [hehehe]. H : yo wis ntar sore ya jam 6.

 

Jam 6 sore tiba. Berapa orang ya yg kemarin berangkat ke GG?? Mmmm…ada si H, Y, D, M,  S, R, sama cuit. Oke berangkat. Naik sepeda. Sampai depan MRT exit 2, parkir, trus jalan, cari makan dulu [benere ga itu laper seh]. Muteeerrr aja deh jadinya nyari tempat makan yg enak dan sepi [mana lagi on peak gitu], jadinya makan di situ deh [situ deh???], masakan Thailand [iya ga seh???]. Ga gitu enak [hehehehe].

 

Selesai makan, tiba saatnya si H itu hunting sepatu sendal.cuit: budget berapa?. H: 1000 NT. Oke kita menyusuri jalan sepanjang GG dan sekitarnya nyari sepatu sendal tapi sayang seribu sayang, yg bagus dan oke harganya lebih dari 1000 NT [ya iyalah].

 

Menyerah??? Pencarian sepatu sendal dihentikan dan kita akhirnya menuju NET yg sedang ada sale. Itu yg beli 3 bayar 70% dan beli 5 bayar 50%. Melihat kesana dan kemari, si Y tertarik untuk beli baju. Dua aja sebenernya. Si H pengen beli jaket [tapi dibilang kekecilan, jadi dia bimbang hehehehehe]. Berarti baru dua. Mulailah yg berniat beli itu membujuk yg lain untuk beli supaya diskonnya 50% [hahahaha]. Cuit yg tadinya ga mau beli, eh tau2 liat aja ada yg lucu.2 potong. M juga jadinya ambil 2 piece. Berarti kan ada 6 tuh. Waduh kelebihan 1 [1 nya ga bisa dapet diskon]. Akhirnya serangan kembali diluncurkan, supaya genap 10 [hahahaha mekso pol]. Si Y akhirnya beli 1 lagi, si H ngambil jaket yg tadi dibilang kekecilan itu, dan si D akhirnya menyerah juga dengan beli dua. So totalnya 10. Lumayan dapet diskon semua [hehehehe]. Anyway, tujuannya apa hasil akhirnya apa,,,,,,cari sepatu sendal dan malah mborong bajuuuuu,,,,,

 

Hffff.

[hujan]

hujan turun dan hati meredup. langit menggelap dan dunia terbawa. terdiam dan sunyi. semasa mengenang hujan di kala galau. mencoret serpihan kertas coklat dengan curahan akal. semua adalah semua. terbagi dalam kotak-kotak pikiran manusia. akal dan hati tidaklah sejalan. merapuh perlahan, diterpa kehampaan. menjadi kuat, dan menjadi lemah. pilihan? semestinya. ketika hati tak lagi menyangga, diri menyapa. tidak ada pembelaan. menolak adalah penyangkalan. imitasi kebohongan.

segenggam kehangatan. kutunggu untuk datang.
